Just a year and three months after releasing her multi-million selling debut, ASHANTI is back with her sophomore CD, Chapter II, in stores today. The first single, Rock Wit U (Awwwww Baby) is already a hit. Ashanti says the song has a real summertime vibe because she started working on it in February, and she just couldn't wait for the warm weather to arrive.
Ashanti says she got herself psyched up to record this new album by going back and listening to her first album very closely, and then trying to top it with each new song she'd record. She says fans will be able to hear a lot more of her vocal abilities on this new CD.
Meanwhile, Ashanti will be spending this Fourth of July in New Orleans at the annual Essence Music Festival, participating in a tribute to LUTHER VANDROSS. Luther was supposed to perform himself, but since he's still recovering from a stroke, a bunch of artists including PATTI LABELLE, are going to perform his music instead. Ashanti says, quote, "Luther's the MAN!"
