Underground mainstays Binary Star from Detroit,Chicago’s Qwazaar of the Typical Cats, and Seattle’s Boom Bap Project and Oldominion join forces in what is being called "The Big Payback Tour." Binary Star’s debut album Masters of the Universe (Nu Gruv), Typical Cat’s Typical Cats (Galapagos4) along with Boom Bap Project’s Circumstance Dictates (Stuck/UTN) and Oldominion’s One (Stuck/UTN), have each garnered critical acclaim in the fickle world of underground hip-hop. The four crews will rotate as headliners each night in what looks to be 30+ date tour.



One Man Army, the voice behind Binary Star, will be touring in support of the Masters of the Universe LP, as well as the recently released collaboration from his Subterraneous crew Waterworld II. (Subterraneous Records) A Detroit, MI icon, One Man Army has performed hundreds of times from the Midwest to the East Coast in hot spots like Chicago, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, New York, and Philadelphia. His album has been deemed a classic by many an underground hip-hop aficionado, and his stage show will bring the West Coast a new appreciation of "ripping it." Qwazaar from the Chicago crew Typical Cats is undoubtedly one of the most popular figures in underground hip-hop today. Qwazaar released a solo album in late 2001, Walk Through Walls (Frontline). The album was received very openly. Together with his partners Qwel and Denizen Kane, they form the Typical Cats…arrogant, complex, eccentric, unforgiving, and complex, this isn’t your ordinary brand of hip-hop. Boom Bap Project and Oldominion are no strangers to touring. Oldominion embarked on three national tours in 2001 and traveled with the likes of Swollen Members, Anticon, Aceyalone and Abstract Rude, the Micranots, Cannibal Ox, the Rhymesayers, and Blackalicious. Oldominion’s One is dark and spiritual, yet, in contrast, their stage show is energetic and aggressive. Boom Bap Project was voted group of the year by commercial radio station KUBE in Seattle, WA, and they also toured the country as the Fantastic Four with Zion I, Foreign Legion and the Micranots. Their still untitled new album will feature appearances from Dilated Peoples, Ras Kass, and Blackalicious among others and promises to deliver the goods.
